What. A. Weekend.
Keswick HC — aka Team Cheeky Vimto — just wrapped up an unforgettable tour at the Blackpool Easter Hockey Festival, and it was one for the books!
Over 3 days, we played 10 matches, winning 8 and losing just 2, which earned us a well-deserved spot in the quarter finals.
There, we faced off against local rivals Wigton, ending in a tense, well-fought draw and going to knockout penalty flicks. Massive shoutout to Harley for psyching out the opposition in goal, and to Neve and Rosie for calmly slotting theirs home.
We then powered through a tough semi-final against Manchester Mavericks, arguably having the harder route to the final — and smashed it. That put us into the final against Macclesfield, where we gave it everything but just missed out, coming away with the runners-up trophy.
Special mention to Gavin, who made it clear how much this meant to him — and we all gave it everything to make him proud. Couldn’t have asked for a better team spirit all weekend with lots of laughs included.
The festival weekend is a perfect mix of sport and social — with 3 full days of hockey and two brilliant evening venues to keep the fun going long after the final whistle. Blackpool delivered once again. Cheeky Vimtos were flowing, whilst Claire stayed classy and made sure she got her coffee fix.
What a tour. What a team. Roll on the next one!
