Keswick 3 vs Warrington 1

On Saturday Keswick men’s 2s played host to Warrington, who were unbeaten in the league, just like Keswick.
From the first whistle Keswick had total control of the game, but were unable to break through the experienced Warrington defence.
Despite Keswick having the better of the game, Warrington took a lead out of nowhere from a short corner.
Warrington also have a few rare chances to extend their lead, but thankfully a couple of brilliant saves from Keswick goalkeeper Peter Tolmie kept them at bay.

Going in at half time 1-0 down Keswick had to keep their patience, which eventually paid off, but it wasn’t until the last 20 minutes when attacker Dan Owen scored the equaliser. After some good work in midfield, Ryan McCully found Owen in space at the back post, who finished passed the Warrington keeper.

Confident of finding the winning goal Keswick kept pushing forward, and found their second goal through winger Ronan Kingsbury, who got his second goal in as many games for the men’s 2s. Midfielder Paul Sloan broke the Warrington defence with a pass to striker Jack Law, whose initial shot looked as though it was going to creep over the line, but Kingsbury was flying in at the back post to get the vital touch to ensure that Keswick would take a 2-1 lead with 10 minute remaining.

In the final 5 minutes Keswick’s quality showed, and they grabbed a third, which was undoubtedly the goal of the game from winger Charlie Goodwin. Goodwin broke with the ball down the left wing, beat three Warrington defenders, cut inside the D and finished from a tight angle passed the helpless Warrington keeper.
