Keswick men’s 2s won 3-0 this week, after hosting Urmston men’s 2s, who sat one place above them in the league.
Urmston were already on the back foot as they only had ten men, with Keswick looking to capitalise on this.
Keswick started the game with some good breaks forward with great passing play coming from Matty Burridge and Joe Broomfield.
The home team struggled to break the deadlock with Jack Law being unlucky to put away a couple of half chances.
Keswick eventually broke the deadlock after a good move on the right hand side Charlie Goodwin put Gavin Moore 1v1 against the keeper, which he finished off nicely.
Keswick worked tirelessly for the rest of the half but were unable to extend their lead.
At the start of the second half Keswick held onto the ball well and looked to double their lead. A volley from Charlie Goodwin found Jack Law at the back post who put the ball in for Keswick’s second goal.
Law then doubled his goal tally after an excellent cross from Dean Ward found Law at the back post which he finished into the corner og the net, securing the 3 points.
Keswick managed to keep a clean sheet after Patrick Eames cleared the ball off the line in the final seconds of the match.
Keswick men's 2s next game is on Saturday against Kendal 1s who they play for the second time this season and hope to continue their good form.
