Keswick Get First 3 Points On The Board

Keswick men’s 2s welcomed Lancaster and Morecambe last Saturday for their first home league game of the season.
With an unlucky two defeats in their first two games Keswick were keen to get a win under their belts. Will Anderson, David Thomas and Ben Farnworth all made their first league appearances of the season for the team.
Straight from the start Keswick were in control of the game, dominating possession but unable to convert any chances.
Keswick finally broke the deadlock after 20 minutes from a short corner. James Fennell’s strike was cleared by Lancaster and Morecambe straight to Dan Owen, who found Steve Salveson at the back post to give Keswick the lead. With Keswick being the dominant team and pushing for another goal before half time they very nearly conceded from a counter attack, but thankfully Gary Tupper made a great save to see Keswick go in 1-0 up at half time.
In the second half Keswick really showed what they were made of, and put in a fantastic 35 minutes of hockey, rarely losing possession of the ball. After some great periods of possession Keswick eventually found their second goal of the game when man of the match Paul Sloan collected the ball in the middle of midfield, ran down the right wing beating 3 players, offloaded the ball to Jack Law who squared it for Ben Harrison to find the back of the net.
Keswick were looking strong and played some good attacking hockey, with Dean Ward and Chris Bicknell working hard all afternoon from full back, pushing on and putting some great crosses into the box.
Keswick then got a third goal when Salveson found Harrison, who calmly rounded the keeper and scored with a neat finish, making it 3 goals in 3 games for the young striker.
Undoubtedly this was Keswick’s best performance of the season so far, and will hope to keep this momentum going when they travel to bottom of the league Lytham St Annes on Saturday afternoon.
