A fresh Cumbrian day with a biting wind greeted our visitors Lymm today at Cockermouth School.

An early start didn't suit the visitors who arrived only 20 minutes prior to the start and a car short due to a breakdown. Advantage purple as they only had the bare 11. After a fractious game the previous day at renowned rivals Blackburn, the team had the chance draw level at the top on points with Liverpool Sefton. The opposition although reduced to 11 were not depleted; Their strength was evident during the earlier 6-6 away and at the outset it was clear their main players had made the trip.

After a scare on the first minute where a panicked clearance was needed, Keswick settled and created well through some individual efforts. Still goalless well into the half Keswick started to dominate as the passing became more measured and chances came. Good work by the Lymm keeper and some slightly rushed passing kept it that way until some great work by Ben Harrison created a golden p spot opportunity for Ricky Barnes who with a cool head waited for the defender to commit then slapped the ball high over the keeper into the net to settle the nerves just before half time.

After the break, better passing by Keswick and a tiring Lymm side brought a second. Thomas Morgan worked the right and chipped to the back post where Paul Sloan poked it home from a foot out. Although the game looked certain, the visitors produced a move to force a short corner and pull one back. No sign of nerves from the home team and a fantastic team move starting with Clive Swanston and a cool sequence of passing left new dad Rob Cook with a simple finish a couple of yards out. From there it was all Keswick.
The best was still to come though as Morgan opened his legs and showed his class. Setting off at pace from half way he past all challengers and eventually exchanged passes in the D to finish the move off with a reverse stick past the keeper. A further goal from Rikki Barnes completed the day and a fine win.

Joint top into the last few games and all to play for in a competitive league. Urmston at home next stop.
