Keswick 1s vs Macclesfield 1s

Keswick men’s 1s hosted Macclesfield 1s on a cold, wet Saturday afternoon, hoping to retain their lead at the top of North West Division 2.
The weather conditions made things difficult for both sides, and Keswick initially found things difficult with the half court press which Macclesfield presented.
Macclesfield were happy to see the Keswick defence keep the ball, as it looked as though they had come to take a draw.
The Keswick defence of Paul Randell, Chris Matter, Jamie O’Shea and Robert Owen were happy to keep the ball, and distributed it well throughout the afternoon.
It was definitely a game of tolerance for Keswick, and midfielders Shaun Wilson, Paul Sloan and man of the match Charlie Jackson had to be patient in their build-up to play in order to create opportunities on goal.
There was very little attacking pressure from Macclesfield, but any chances they did have were covered excellently from goalkeeper Gary Tupper.
In a game which looked as though it was going to end in a goalless draw, Keswick managed to grab a goal late into the second half through Mark Proctor to give them the 3 points.
The goal came when Luke Heap attacked down the right-wing to and cut in brilliantly to square for Ben Harrison, who was unlucky not to score, but Proctor was on hand to convert past the stranded Macclesfield keeper to give Keswick a one goal lead!
After a frustrating game for Keswick they were pleased to get the goal and see out the game which gave them the 3 points and kept them at the top of North West Division 2.
On Saturday Keswick men’s 1s begin their second half of fixtures when they travel away to fellow promotion contenders Neston South Wirral 2s.
